Most of us fall into the former category, nitpicking our every “defect.” We’re so used to telling ourselves negative things that we don’t even realize we are doing it.
Well, it’s time to shake things up!
Here’s what to do: Every time you catch yourself saying something negative about your appearance, we want you to tell yourself something you like about yourself.
Why it matters: By replacing your negative thoughts with positive ones, you are training your brain to focus on positive aspects about yourself. It may not come easy at first, but the more you do it, the better you’ll get at thinking about positive things. One thought at a time is all it takes to make progress!
2. Treat your body like a work of art (because it is!)
How’s your lifestyle these days? Are you getting enough sleep? Drinking enough water? Eating plenty of fruits and vegetables? Laughing every day? (Yes, laughing is healthy!)
Here’s what to do: If you’re having a bad day, give yourself permission to take a break to regroup and reset. It’s never too late to start fresh. Foodwise, grab an apple as a snack or switch that soda to water. Every little choice counts. As for your mood, if you come to realize that you haven’t laughed once on a particular day, commit yourself to watching something funny on TV that night or calling up that friend who always makes you laugh.
Why it matters: It’s impossible to feel good about yourself when your body is running on empty.
When you honor your body with healthy and wholesome habits, including laughing, you are setting yourself up for success in every aspect of your life.
