That said, there are a few things YOU can do to help boost the results of your injections.
1. Stop intake of alcohol and other blood thinners
…at least a week before your treatment. Common blood thinners include aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDS), and the “G’s” — green tea, gingko, garlic, ginseng, and ginger.
2. Start using vitamin A in your skin care routine at home.
Vitamin A is the most widely studied and proven skin care ingredient on the planet. Vitamin A helps to renew your skin to keep it looking young and smooth by triggering new collagen and elastin growth and thickening your dermis. You can either get a prescription for a topical retinoid like Retin A, or you can use a lower dose of retinoid called retinol, which is available in over-the-counter formulations. Retinol is slower acting but gentler on your skin.
The bottom line with vitamin A is that it will help your skin look younger from the inside out, enhancing the benefits of your injectable treatments. It’s a win-win combination!
3. Plan on more downtime than you need.
We know injectables are a minimal to no downtime treatment, but you’ll feel better scheduling your treatment for a time when you can rest at home. Any injection comes with the risk of bruising and swelling. Injectables are not a treatment to schedule the night before or the day of a big event. Planning for at least a day or two of “buffer” time will give you the space to ice your treatment areas and take it easy. We like to think downtime around your injectables is a wonderful excuse for YOU time! Take it easy! After all, you deserve it!
