As we sort out our new normal in California and across the world, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude to our community and to you, my amazing clients, for working together during this challenging time. It takes strength and courage to remain calm and kind amidst stressful circumstances, and I can proudly say that you’ve risen to the challenge! I am proud to be a citizen of Mill Valley and the surrounding communities.
As a business owner, I also want you to know that your health and safety are my first priority. As Belle Marin reopens its doors, please take comfort in knowing that I am fervently committed to taking every safety precaution possible. Because your health is everything, I wanted to share a few simple and easy wellness tips for boosting your vitality this summer and beyond.
Don’t forget to laugh!
Laughter is good exercise for your heart and it can also boost blood flow by 20%. Laughter also spikes endorphins, those feel-good chemicals in your brain, helping you feel happier and less stressed. So no matter what, keep your healthy sense of humor intact!
Give your skin props!
As your largest living organ, your skin never stops working to fend off germs, UV damage, pollution and other wellness saboteurs. Your skin is a workhorse, a frontline defender. Do you give it the respect it deserves? Every day, be sure to apply a physical sunscreen with at least an SPF of 30. Sunscreen is your #1 beauty weapon always, which is a wonderful thing for all of us because it’s also extremely affordable. A lot of people shy away from daily sunscreen because they’ve had bad luck with greasy formulas that make them break out. I am here to tell you that today’s advanced medical-grade formulations, like the ones we carry here at Belle Marin, are carefully designed to protect and enhance your skin without making you break out. One of our favorites is Alastin® HydraTint SPF 36, which features a flattering tint that glows and flatters most skin tones. We’ll help you choose the right sunscreen for you during your virtual consultation. Email us at hello@3.145.127.199 or simply message us on our website chat feature, Podium. Or, you can always call us at 415.887.8718 and we will get back to you soon!
Drink more water!
It’s truly surprising, all the health and beauty benefits of drinking plain old water. For starters, drinking water helps every system in your body function optimally, regulating your pH levels and kidney function while also reducing your risk for constipation, asthma, allergies and migraines. Water is also essential for making your skin look younger by preventing dehydration-induced wrinkles. And there’s more: Water turns out to be an important weight loss tool. A study by the Endocrine Society found that drinking 500 milliliters of water increased people’s metabolic rate by 30% within 10 to 40 minutes of drinking it. Nutrition experts recommend drinking water before eating to help fill your belly so you eat less. And water also helps aid weight loss by flushing out by-products of fat from the body.
Eat “magic” foods more.
These foods aren’t really magic, but they are surprisingly good for you!

Think positive!
Studies have found that looking on the bright side helps you live longer. Optimists often have lower blood pressure, which reduces the risk of coronary artery disease. People who are more optimistic also tend to have healthier behaviors – such as diet and exercise – that contribute to longevity.
