As we shelter in place to stop the spread of COVID-19, self-care is more important now than ever before. Our routines are a fundamental part of who we are, and when they get disrupted, it can negatively impact us. Fortunately, we can take positive steps for ourselves to sustain our sense of balance and wellbeing during these uncertain times.
Here are three clinically-supported wellness tips:
Get your sleep
Healthy sleep habits depends on regularity, so if your body is used to a certain sleeping schedule, like going to bed at 10 p.m. and waking at 6 a.m., be sure to stick with it. Generally speaking, sleep should be a huge priority right now, during times of stress, because it’s your body’s time to recuperate. In fact, studies indicate that sleep deprivation heightens your risk for disease, depression and many other health problems, so don’t skimp on this vital self-care tool!
Just do it
If you’re struggling to stay motivated because you can’t go to the gym like you used to, stop waiting and begin your own exercise routine. In place of weight lifting, try exercises that use your own body weight, such as planks, pull ups, pushups and sit-ups. While group workouts are out, try walking, biking or yoga.
Be kind to yourself
If you have a tendency to be hard on yourself, as so many of us do, give yourself a pass on not being perfect right now. For example, maybe now isn’t the best time to take up a new diet or weight loss competition. However, it’s a great time to treat yourself to your favorite results-driven skin care products! Just go online to Belle Marin’s Alastin® store and treat yourself to glowing skin. And remember — your favorite treatments are waiting for you! Though our schedules may be uncertain right now, rest assured that there will be plenty of time for your next body contouring treatment with CoolSculpting® or your complexion-correcting BBL™ photofacial.
